Lack of sleep paying off?

There is one down side to the sleep training. You get less sleep. I know, doesn't make sense right? The point is you stop using all the "sleep crutches" or techniques you normally use to get your child to sleep. This way they can learn to fall asleep on their own. Anyway, one thing I can say for sure is the training is paying off. We had our biggest success this morning when Russell woke up in his crib and didn't cry a single year.
I've also noticed the consistency of his schedule making a huge difference. Now, he is asleep most night between 7-8 p.m. That used to be the biggest fight! I would spend hours trying to put him to sleep each night.
Another notice improvement would be putting him back to sleep at night. If I ever tried to lay him back in his crib before he was in a deep sleep he would wake up, thrash, and scream. Now I can pick him up for a minute and lay him down, rub his back for a minute and he's out! Success is in my future!!!! Even though I'm getting less sleep, I'm a much happier mommy with these changes and Russell is a much happier baby :)

Sleep training initiated

So how did the first night go? I managed to make it to 6 am without nursing Russell which is a sleep lady must. However, if I don't get coffee in my bloodstream soon I may very well pass out. You think it's funny but I'm not kidding! He actually slept better the first half of the night then I expected. At the first wake up around midnight I picked him up for only a minute and then laid him down and rubbed his back and he was out! I think it helped a lot that he originally fell asleep in his crib therefore making it easier to fall back asleep in it. Tonight I start night one of the sleep lady shuffle. Wish me serious luck because I have a very persistent little bugger that isn't going to like being put to sleep alone in his crib.

Hi ho hi ho it's off to Starbucks I go ...

Blog is back! ... Again?

Okay blog we're back! In the last year we have gone through some serious changes! I spent the last 14 months raising a beautiful healthy baby boy who truly is a blessing. I haven't had a computer to blog the way I would love to but now with my new IPhone and blogger app we can get back in action!

Today is the new day of major changes for Russell and I. Unfortunately my bouncing baby boy doesn't sleep through the night and isn't on a set bedtime schedule. It seems like no matter what we try, NOTHING WORKS. We even tried the "cry it out" method, and it's just not for us. I recently learned about a method called the sleep lady shuffle. One chapter deep into the book Good night Sleep tight by Kim West or the "Sleep Last" and we are going to start on her program tonight!!! Wish us luck!
